"I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this State Farm agency was deeply disappointing and, frankly, concerning.

I worked directly with Marian Cotter, who, unfortunately, demonstrated a lack of clarity, accountability, and professionalism throughout our interaction. From the start, she appeared unfamiliar with my account details and struggled to provide accurate or coherent explanations regarding my policy.

Prior to purchasing my vehicle, I made multiple calls to the Sean McCarthy State Farm office during standard business hours to obtain precise insurance quotes. I clearly explained my situation, that I had been in an accident and needed to understand exactly what my monthly premium would be before committing to a new car. Each time, I was quoted consistent figures.

However, less than a month after securing my vehicle, my premium unexpectedly increased to over $300, with no prior notice or proactive communication from the agency. When I reached out for clarification, I was dismissively told, “I don’t know who you spoke to, but someone quoted you wrong.” This response was both unprofessional and unacceptable, especially given that all prior communication had been with their own office.

At no point did anyone explain that quoted rates could significantly change after underwriting review—a critical detail that should be transparently communicated to any customer making a financial decision of this magnitude.

When I expressed concern about the sudden increase and explained that I could not afford a $737 insurance payment, I was met with a shockingly indifferent response: “Yeah, probably,” when I asked if I should return my vehicle. This lack of empathy and guidance was both discouraging and inappropriate.

Additionally, when I requested to speak with a supervisor, I never received a follow-up. Instead, without my knowledge or consent, my policy was transferred to another agency days later. This was done without any communication, explanation, or courtesy outreach.

Overall, this experience reflects a serious lack of professionalism, transparency, and customer care. I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution and ensure all details are clearly documented and confirmed before making any decisions with this office."
